Preceding the ABA National Leadership Conference, this conference focused on three key areas of burn care:

  1. Fire and Burn Safety: Priorities and Strategies for Preventing the Burn Injury
  2. After the Injury: Care Centered on Optimizing Long Term Quality of Life
  3. From the Individual to the Community...Managing the Mass Casualty Burn Incident Together

Experts in the field presented the current state of knowledge on these areas, followed by separate concurrent round table discussions. The day concluded with a plenary session summarizing the needs and priorities for all areas.

Thank you to all the attendees and speakers that made this year's NLC an overwhelming success. Highlights of the conference included a luncheon with keynote speaker Congressman Fred Upton (R - MI). Another highlight was a Wednesday afternoon panel on the science of flame retardant chemicals.

ABA attendees met with congressional members and staffers presenting two key leave-behinds - adding burns to the definition of Trauma and promotion of the ABA's Burn Quality Improvement Program. Click on the corresponding title to view more information on either of these "leave behinds".
