This picture shows fire doors propped
open in a dormitory building. Although
this practice may seem innocent, the fire doors are there for a reason ---to
protect everyone who lives there. If a fire broke out in this basement
storage and laundry area, smoke would quickly spread up the stairs, and fire
could follow, engulfing the building and everyone in it in a matter of
minutes.
