Burn wounds being cleaned. It is
painful for the patient but critically important to continually remove dead
skin and keep the wounds clean. Otherwise, there is an increased chance that
a potentially fatal infection will spread throughout the burned surface area,
which no longer has the protection provided by normal skin.
