Skin grafting involves taking skin from
somewhere else and placing it over the burn wound. Ideally, the surgeon will
use some of the patient’s own skin, because that will have the best result.
In “autografting”, the surgeon takes the top layer of skin from a non-burned
area of the patient and places it in a mesher, to prepare it for grafting.
