Sensory impairment may hinder their ability to recognize danger and avoid hazardous situations.
Physical problems or limitations due to illness or injury can reduce their ability to escape injury if they contact hot substances or objects.
Mental impairment, either by itself or combined with physical problems, further raises the risk of scald or other injury.
