     Along with the basic guidelines listed on the previous slide, special considerations are involved in treating electrical and chemical burns.
The first rule for an electrical burn is to stay away from the injured person until you are sure the power has been turned off.
For a chemical burn, assuming the injury source presents no further threat to the person providing assistance, the first step is to flush the affected area with running water for at least 20 minutes.
If the area affected by the chemical burn is still painful, continue to flush until the pain stops.
