About the Fellowship:
The burn fellow is responsible for assigning the physician /provider roles for rounding and in the Operating Room. The team captain role is given to the fellow as leadership learning experience. The fellow’s education will encompass burn, wound, and soft tissue injury focusing on the care of and pathology of soft tissue. Another integral player in the burn unit is the surgical resident assigned to the unit each month. The resident must agree to the assignments given by the fellow, and they will be allowed as much responsibility as possible. The nurse practitioners are available to assist the physician team with the medical management of the patients as needed and ensure coordination of care.
