The Department of Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSCEP) seeks Advance Practice Providers (APP) to enhance the burn component of our Acute Care Surgery program. The successful candidate should enjoy working with burn surgeons, acute care surgeons, surgical critical care fellows, residents and students. This is an excellent opportunity to have a pivotal role as the Surgery Department grows clinically and academically as a regional referral center for surgical disease to include burns. UMC-EP, as the only ACS-verified Level 1 Trauma Center for a 270-mile radius, annually admits approximately 3,800 trauma patients from a catchment area of 1.25M individuals in far west Texas and southern New Mexico. Since the nearest ABA-verified burn center is 340 miles from El Paso, UMC-EP is establishing a Burn Center to complement our Acute Care Surgery program. El Paso is the 6th most populous city in Texas and the 22nd in the United States. The city has been ranked as the city with the lowest cost of living by Forbes magazine and one of the safest cities in the United States. Exceptional public schools and private schools are available. The city has minor league baseball and soccer, symphony, museums, excellent dining options and shopping. The El Paso International Airport is easy to access, making travel simple and efficient. One can enjoy living in the mountains and skiing is just two hours away. The position is a full-time appointment at TTUHSCEP and the salary is competitive. TTUHSCEP is one of five independent universities in the Texas Tech University System. The HSC consists of the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing, the L. Frederick Francis Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and the Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine. The acute care surgery APP position requires either of the following: • Completion of an accredited School of Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing, current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas. • Completion of a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association, current Physician Assistant License in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas.
