Dues and Membership Terms 

  • Annual dues: $525 

  • Memberships expire December 31 each year. 

  • A 90-day grace period is provided before cancellation. 

  • Use of the FABA designation requires active ABA membership and must be discontinued if membership lapses. 

  • Lapsed Fellows must rejoin at the regular member rate before reapplying for FABA status. 

The FABA designation recognizes my commitment to the totality of burn care. It’s more than an acronym. It’s a meaningful distinction within the ABA and global medical community. For those dedicated to advancing burn care, this is a recognition you don’t want to miss.

Candidacy Requirements

  • All applicants must be licensed, board-certified physicians with current ABA membership.

  • Applicants must have a clinical appointment in a burn center for a term of no less than 3 continuous years prior to application.

  • Applicants must provide an updated CV and three (3) letters of advocacy (LOA) from board-certified physicians  who you have worked with in caring for burn-injured patients. These can include: anesthesiologists, emergency medicine physicians, intensivists, psychiatrists, physiatrists, or surgeons. Recommended: one (1) from chair/surgeon chief and two (2) from physician coworkers.​

  • Applicants are evaluated on evidence provided within three of five principle categories. Each category requires a brief narrative from the candidate and either a letter of recommendation from a colleague, participation in specific burn-related activities, and/or evidence of advanced work in the burn field. See table below for detail.
