Meeting Description

Join the ABA’s Burn OT/PT Special Interest Group (SIG) for their virtual networking event! This meeting will feature a collaborative discussion of challenging patient cases in burn rehabilitation. Brooke Murtaugh and her team from Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital will present a multifaceted acute case involving a patient with a 60% TBSA flame injury, complicated by bilateral AKAs, digit loss, pressure injuries, resistant bacteria, and social concerns. The session will include a presentation of the patient case, discussion around treatment options and outcomes, and opportunities for attendees to share how they navigated similar experiences. In addition, we will be discussing a proposed name change for the OT/PT SIG, given the growth our community has seen over the years to include a wider range of burn care specialists within our membership. Following a brief discussion of the proposal, we will hold a live vote to decide it the proposal should move forward to the MAC for approval.

Who should attend: Burn rehabilitation professionals (including occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech language pathologists).
